“What is responsive desire?!” you may be asking yourself. It’s when sexual desire builds in response to or during a sexual situation, as opposed to beforehand or at the very beginning. It is especially common for people with vulvas, but anyone can experience responsive desire for a variety of different reasons. Much of the narrative around sex / desire / turned-on-ness revolves around one specific pattern where FIRST you feel interested in sex (a physical body response that we might call “turned on”) and then you engage in sex / intimacy. But folks with responsive desire might not experience the sensation of being turned on before sex. Learn more in this informational mini zine!
